Rebecca Taylor Handbags

I've been meaning to get a good handbag for a while now. It all started when I went to go buy lunch and passed through the Isetan department store where they had this beautiful Burberry bag on display. Every time I go buy lunch I would look at it and sigh. I think that is a bit out of my league as I was just a chambering student then :P

Since I just started working, I think I should take a step back and look at other alternatives other than that Burberry bag. I've been looking at some Rebecca Taylor handbags and have found a few that I quite like. So what is the problem? Well, for starters they don't sell them here and secondly I can't quite decide from just looking at the pictures online.

But here are my top three choices:

The Rosetta (17,850円)

I really like the design for this one and the lining inside too! Yes, I actually have a thing for inside linings.

The Plum Looks (19,950円)

This one fits the criteria of being the every day nice practical bag that I can take to court.

バック(ハートチャーム付きトートバック)(19,950円)

Another option for the nice practical bag :)

Hence my current dilemma. I did take note of these bags the last time I went to Japan. But seeing how I haven't even started working at that time, I decide against getting one but got a nice dark purple Anna Sui wallet instead, which I love to bits :)

Back at work

I am now in my second week of work after my pupillage ended. So what's different? Well for starters, I have my own room now :) I think the thing I like most about it is that there is privacy. When I am making a telephone call to another law firm or to a client, at least I know that the whole world can't hear me. I have also resorted to using the speaker phone more often. That way it is easier to multi-task! My hands are free to do some typing or writing while talking on the phone hehe

Workload has been alright I think. As soon as I gain my momentum back everything should be fine. I find myself taking extra long to draft legal documents and opinions when I would usually be able to do it relatively quickly. I think I am still half in holiday mode. Need to snap out of it!

Today there was an interesting 'development' in my legal career. Its starting to have a clear direction. The partner of my practice group informed me that they need a person to focus on employment related matters and was wondering whether I am okay with taking on the role or opposed to the idea. I told her I am willing to concentrate on that area of law. To be honest, I always felt that I enjoy it and if I had a choice I would want to specialise in this area. It was after all an employment case which lead me to draft a 60+ page submissions which cited over 40 cases :P So I am happy :)

Not too long after she left my room, I got an employment assignment. So I guess it is with immediate effect :P

Time really does fly! I can't believe that it is already reaching the end of my holidays :(

Today I finally managed to settle all of my court papers filings. After a week of running to court, Bar Council, Bar Committee and the AG's Chambers in Putrajaya, I am finally done with all the paper work. So now I am all set for the Long Call on 29 August 2009 :)

I think this holiday has been filled with running errands, be it work related or personal errands. So I wouldn't say that I had that much time to just chill. For the first week I was constantly checking my office e-mail through my Blackberry....until it went into SOS mode all of a sudden. Can't do much with it now. I took it as a sign that I should not be thinking about work for at least one week of my holiday :P

Last weekend was pretty great as it was the first time I went treasure hunting with Jonie, Audrey and Azmir. It was a full day hunt starting from the KL Bird Park all the way to Pulai Springs Resort in Johor. I think this was the part that I really felt like I was on holiday. I think it has to do with being somewhere else other than KL. Spending the night at a nice hotel also added to the nice holiday feel :) Oh and to top it all off, our team actually won first place!! What a great first treasure hunt hehe

I guess I still have 3 more days of my holiday left. I should probably try and make the most out of it cause after this, things are going to get busy!

Officially on a 2 week break! :)

I have finally completed my chambering period!! :D

So what happens now? Well, I am taking 2 weeks off before I join back the firm as an Associate. I have cleared my chambering desk on Sunday and just cleared my work so that I can now have peace of mind during my break.

There is so much to do during this holiday period that I am just wondering how am I going to squeeze it all into 2 weeks :P My ultimate aim however is definitely to just chill :)

I want to go on a holiday, enjoy nice desserty places, perhaps go shopping, bake some nice cakes, watch movies, catch up with some friends, play the piano, reply some letters and catch up on some sleep! hehe

"Time is the most undefinable yet paradoxical of things; the past is gone, the future is not come, and the present becomes the past even while we attempt to define it, and, like the flash of lightning, at once exist and expires" - Charles Caleb Colton

So much has been happening lately that I don't quite know where to start.

For one thing, I have officially been retained :) So all that hard work paid off in the end.

Work is getting busier by the day. I'm just waiting for the point where I have enough exposure to be able to do the work at half the speed I am doing it now :P

Something nice also happened when I came into work on Tuesday. There was a cranberry shortcake on my desk. I assumed it was from my buddy cause there was once she left some chocolates on my desk for me. But when I thanked her I later found out that she had nothing to do with it...oops...oh well..still don't know who is it from, but thank you to whoever you are hehe

I guess that is all from me. I will end with a an e-mail from one of my colleagues that was able to motivate me in doing my work when I was stuck in the office at night working on a case...

"A litigator must always pick sides

Remember, you do not pick the side you think will win

You pick a side and then make sure you win"

Well, believe it!

I got a comment today that sent me through the roof! Someone commented

"I find it really hard to believe that your are really THAT swamped that you can only eat lunch like once a week"

WTF

I have been sleeping at 3am the past few days and working through the weekend to clear my work and someone has the audacity to suggest that I am skipping lunch for the fun of it?? Fine, he did say that it is clear that I am being overloaded. But in my defence, as a pupil/trainee who is technically at the bottom of the food chain do I have much say or control in the amount of work I get? It's not like I purposely do this to myself. When some people come to me asking me to work on a matter, I do inform them of my limited capacity as I already have a lot on my plate But if they insist on it and still ask me to squeeze one more matter, how do I say no? By hook or by crook I have to get it done.

Today I also got a comment from one of the associate that my work is a bit not up to my usual standard. When I apologized even he acknowledged that he understands that I am swamped and thus not able to do a thorough check.

So in my response to my level of work being unbelievable, I say you better believe it!
